A Summer of Ideas
So FINALLY, another semester won and done!
Some may miss it and others are more than glad that the days/nights of studying and going to class can now finally come to an end.... for now.
So I do know now that some of us may be returning for summer classes while others are looking forward to earning some extra cash, traveling, and just enjoying the break.
Wondering what you could now do with the summer break you have been blessed with?
Here are some options and ideas to better help you out.
Call Home, Plan A Visit To Friends Or Family:
We are already on our phones 24/7 as it is so just search the contacts of those you miss or know miss you and give them a quick call or message to catch up.
It's tough feeling "grown up" especially when you feel the pressures of school and life all in one semester.
You owe it to yourself to keep a connection to those who may give you a boost in life.
Catch up on lost time with family or friends by going out to eat or destinations that will be worth the time and money.
Take Summer Classes:
I really leave this tip up in the air, it may prove to be a challenge to yourself to attempt summer classes.
It's also tough knowing that the cost is almost extra for you especially if you pay out of pocket or Financial Aid doesn't cover summer's cost of attendance.
On a side note the two summer sessions help you gain an advantage in not only knocking classes out the way but you end up two steps ahead of the pace towards graduation.
I want to finally add that you should know the sessions will be fast pace and you are only able to take 6 hours per summer session so you could use the summer break towards an educational advantage.
Summer Internships:
Generally, it's always smart to think of which companies you'd like to apply for in January or February so if you have some in mind it's best now to shoot that shot because your summer is now closer than ever.
Pro-tip: build yourself a spreadsheet to keep track of every internship
you’re interested in — otherwise it can become overwhelming.
Track
deadlines, paid or unpaid, role, industry, company, what is needed for
the application. Once you have a solid list start reaching out to
companies that interest you.
Make sure to take advantage of your college’s career center. The site Internships.com is also a great resource for finding internships online.
While scouring endless job boards and company websites looking for an
internship can be daunting so don’t forget to network. Reach out to your
teachers, alumni network, Greek life org, family and friends.
With this being my last blog posting sadly, I did want to say that I am thankful to those who have taken time out of their busy schedule to find some hope in these posting making their semester easier.
I really enjoyed sharing all my ideas of tips and savings in the postings since day one.
Until next semester, I hope that all who view are back again using what I blogged about.
